Post-GeekGirlCon Thoughts

Darth Makenna besting me after a duel!
Holy crap, I am tired but I had an insane amount of fun this weekend. I think Saturday was my first night of getting more than 4 hours of sleep in the past week and Sunday was my first full 8. It was glorious. I didn't want to get out of bed.

Apparently on Sunday my eyes were so bloodshot that I looked a little high by end of day. A friend brought me eye-drops. Holy crap I have never needed those so badly when I wasn't wearing costume contacts. The red wig I wore on Saturday probably didn't help.

Speaking of wigs, my panel went very very well. I was a bit nervous at first since it had been a while since I spoke by myself about a subject to a room of people (it's easier when you have a partner to play off of). I did record most of it? Unfortunately I realized that some of it may be out of frame. I'll see if there's anything I can do for that for those who are curious about what was talked about.

My other panel also went really well and I got to talk with some amazing women in the industry about why we love rocking Youtube as well as hang out with some of them at Taphouse. Alas. All of them live out of state.

I also sold out of books again, which I was definitely not expecting this time around because I'd brought 25 copies with me. So... that was really awesome and exciting.

I wanted to remind folks about this going on:

This also got me thinking as I was talking to people this weekend and pitching this book to people who had never heard of me--is there interest in an audiobook for this?

I recorded one for the amazing Blake Northcott's Arena Mode and so it's been on my mind of if this would be something people would even be interested in. I have a short story that I owe you guys from during the voting period so I will be recording that and putting it up on Sound Cloud for you guys and I suppose we'll see from there if there's interest in doing the same for Alys.

Chilling with Yorick after a long weekend
Most of my writing focus is currently on getting some annotaitons and notes for the Collector's edition out--and reaching out and talking to artists etc etc. But I have started writing down little notes on coffee cups and napkins about book 2.

Have I ever mentioned there's a second book coming? I know I've mentioned it to individuals who asked but I'm not sure if I ever made a public statement about it. And I suppose it's somewhat a given because I have cited it as "The Terra Mirum Chronicles" and one book can hardly pass for more than one chronicle, unless it's a series of short stories, I suppose.

So. Yes. There will be a book 2. And I'm working on it now. And I'm hoping to have more information in the months to come. Teaser images and all.

And that's really all I have to say on the matter. For today anyway.

  1. Congrats on selling out! That's awesome! I didn't realize you were the one doing the wig panel--I didn't make that one but I thought that was such an awesome idea for a panel.

I'm not a big fan of audiobooks, but I know a lot of people who are. A lot of my author friends have had great experiences putting them out!

  2. Well I'm glad to hear that Alys was well received and you sold out. I love your singing videos and I think that you have a lovely voice so if you are doing the reading for the audio version then yes I'd be interested in it. I'm also glad to hear that things are going so well for you in general. I've never worn a wig but it sounds like an interesting panel so if you get it up on YouTube I'd take a gander.

Thanks and have a great day Kiri!
